Admiral Farragut Academy (Farragut) was one of 17 aviation focused schools and organizations around the country awarded with a grant by American Airlines because of its dedication to training the next generation of aviators.
The $5,000 grant to Farragut will enhance the Lower School Aviation experience and give its younger students the opportunity to train in the aviation classroom and then log flight time in an actual aircraft. Right now, the Aviation Program only serves students 9th-12th grade.
On December 12, 2018, Farragut Aviation Program Director Rob Ewing, along with Aviation instructor Jose Hercher, will fly to Dallas, Texas for the awards luncheon.
“The goal of the Aviation Program at Admiral Farragut Academy has always been to educate our students on the incredible number of career options in the field of Aviation. By exposing the Lower School students to Aviation early in their academic journey, we hope to foster a love of learning that will carry through to our Upper School program and beyond. This grant represents a unique opportunity for our students to get first-hand experience at the controls of an aircraft in flight and to apply math and science concepts in a dynamic learning environment,” said Ewing.
