CANTON COUNTRY DAY MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS VALUE GIVING BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITY

Canton Country Day School students love learning through meaningful service experiences, both in and out of school. The Service Learning Program at CCDS is an opportunity for students in grades 6-8 to participate in public service by giving back to their community. One Friday morning per month is set aside to meet these needs.

Fifth and sixth grade students remain on campus, filling the needs that are brought to the attention of the school through various sources. Working together, students have created blankets for The Linus Project, knit hats for Knots of Love, food bags for children in Canton City Schools, and butterfly craft bags for abused children for the Stark County Children’s Network.

Seventh and eighth graders have partnered with the Stark MRDD Rebecca Stallman Southgate School and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for their community service. At Southgate School, 7th graders are paired in classrooms with their peers, serving students with various mental disabilities. Students often share how a child has touched their life more than they could have imagined. At the Habitat ReStore, 8th graders love getting dirty! From breaking down cardboard, cleaning windows, pricing items, to creating Christmas store displays, these students believe that they are giving hope to families by helping people in their own community achieve the dream of affordable housing.

Canton Country Day School students believe in making a difference…and they do!
