On Friday, November 4, James River Day School eighth graders participated in the sixth annual cooking competition. Divided into teams, eighth grade students chose recipes and planned their menus. Later, the students shopped for and cooked a meal for a panel of judges. The students aimed to create tasty, beautiful, and nutritious meals while on a slender budget. After presenting their meals to the judges, the students spoke about the nutritional value of, and preparation techniques used in, their meals. Each year, the cooking competition concludes James River’s nutrition education program, which is part of the physical education curriculum. This year’s winning group was “Ninja Panini!”
