Part of Aspen Academy’s mission is to cultivate excellence in community strength and service. Service may meet a tangible need, or it may meet a need of the spirit. In January, Aspen Academy families were given the opportunity to do both. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.” On Monday, January 19th, Aspen Academy marched in the Martin Luther King Marade in downtown Denver. We marched alongside other members of our community and shared in Martin Luther King’s spirit of togetherness. On Thursday, January 29th, families were invited to come together to make fleece blankets for Children’s Hospital. A fun time was had by all, as families got together in the cafeteria to share in laughter, snacks, and blanket making! By the end of the afternoon, we had made over 200 blankets.
