Public Park Mural

2013-14 Friends School of Minnesota middle school student council worked all year on a mural in Horton Park across the street from the school.

Students wanted to give back to our community through service using the Quaker values of simplicity, peace, community, justice, and integrity. They wanted to make Horton Park a place that is more welcoming, friendly, and expresses the values of the community surrounding the park. In recent years, the cement wall had become the target of graffiti.

Their mural depicts Twin Cities history and native wildlife. They worked with muralist Gustavo Lira. Neighbors report being delighted with the final result!
