Students in the GarageBand App class at Tuxedo Park School were busy this past trimester creating exciting sound projects. For their final project, each student selected an excerpt from a literary work that they have read at Tuxedo Park School, recorded a voice narrating the passage (which serves as the voiceover), and then created a musical score to shape the story from a particular perspective. In selecting their literary passages, students were required to find a plot twist or mood shift in the literature. Students dramatically reflected this shift in the story by changing their instrumentation or musical genre. Using only the iPad app, students composed, recorded, and mixed their mini-soundtracks.
Above you can listen to one of the class’s mini-soundtracks, which utilizes an excerpt from George Orwell’s 1984.
