Sea Crest School has announced a partnership with Half Moon Bay through the city’s ‘Adopt A Park’ program. Sea Crest will adopt neighboring Poplar Beach, and students, faculty and staff will work together to help ensure that the beach is in good condition for Half Moon Bay residents and visitors to enjoy. Sea Crest 7th graders have already spent an afternoon at the beach as part of their annual Outdoor Education project. In the coming weeks the 8th and 5th grades at Sea Crest will also visit and clean up Poplar Beach.

“We’re delighted to work with the city of Half Moon Bay on this important effort, and to give our pupils the opportunity take stewardship of one of our beautiful community beaches,” said Dr. Tekakwitha Pernambuco-Wise, Sea Crest’s Head of School. “The adoption of Poplar Beach fits in well with many of our curricular programs including our beaches and wetlands study, our outdoor education and our service learning programs. As residents of the coastside our beautiful beaches are the backdrop for much of our lives. The Sea Crest community is happy to support the city’s efforts to preserve and protect our area beaches.”
