In the afternoon of December 5, Level 6 students culminated their trimester of Performing Arts with their annual Choral Concert. This class was not just about singing; it was about history, art, poetry, equality, and peace. It was about the Land and Music of South Africa, and about the amazing man, Nelson Mandela.
It could not have been predicted that Mandela, affectionately called Tata Madiba, a clan name meaning “Father,” would pass away hours before the concert began. It was beautiful, in a sense, that our students were able to pay tribute to the world’s beloved hero by singing joyfully of his long walk to freedom. The afternoon was a celebration of his life.
