Young chemists at Oak Hill Academy, Lincroft, NJ

From Mrs. Cahalane, Science Teacher, Grades PK – 4:
I begin teaching basic chemistry in PK at Oak Hill Academy. All students have the opportunity to use labware found in real chemistry laboratories: graduated cylinders, beakers, test tubes, pipettes, etc. Independent exploration is encouraged! I feel that children need to read about science, hear about science but most of all, they must be given a chance to actually be scientists. My classroom in the Oak Hill Academy Science & Environmental Center provides them with many opportunities to be scientists. These photos show my little ones experimenting with child-safe solids and liquids. The children love being chemists!
