Alum Is on Path to Improve Global Healthcare

Ranney School (Tinton Falls, NJ) Alum Anna Rose Johnson ’08 is one of those students who, in a phrase, never stops. She is a perpetual thinker and an assiduous worker. She is confident, passionate and determined to fight for a better world. And over the past six years, starting with the launch of her own nonprofit organization, she has been working toward a vision. That vision is to improve the healthcare quality of low-income Spanish-speaking communities at the global and local level.

We caught up with Anna this spring to find out how she’s pursuing her goal and how Ranney helped to set her on this path. Read the full story at http://www.ranneyschool.org/podium/default.aspx?t=173916&rc=0.

  1. As one of Anna Rose’s teachers, I can attest to all of this but wanted to add that she began her non-profit organization as the center piece of the Capstone course she took when a senior at Ranney School. In fact, Anna Rose was one of the inaugural members of that Capstone course, in which students chose a topic about which they were passionate and were given daily class time for the entirety of their senior year to pursue its study. Hers is a shining example of the way in which authentic, individually-driven, and truly important study on the high school level can set our students up to not only succeed in their adult life but exceed even their own expectations. I’m so proud to have been at the beginning of this journey with her and am very excited to see what she does next!
