Tree Planting at The Awty International School Supports Sustainability Projects

Our school planted a native Texas oak tree on school campus on October 4th 2013 and registered it on ForestNation website. The tree was dedicated to Ms Kristi Winegarden, a science teacher who, a couple of years ago, started our sustainability committee’s work and long-term objectives toward recycling, reusing and reducing. She is now teaching in another international school overseas and has left us with a very fond memory of her passion for sustainable projects involving students, parents and support staff. The tree was her students’ idea of saying thank you to their teacher in a sustainable way. It is now planted near our campus entrance, as a wonderful reminder of her engagement toward preserving our environment and the friendships that have taken root from sharing her projects enhancing our campus life, just like this tree.
